Pacu is a robust fish with ovoid shape, flattened laterally. It is dark grey to silver in color, with a white belly, yellow breast and has small, darker spots on the laterals fins. Endemic to the Paraguay-Paraná River basin, aqua-culture has stepped in to sustain the species.
